Attractions and Amenities
Petworth began as a working class neighborhood in the 1920s and 30s and is one of the largest neighborhoods in the city with about 20,000 residents. The neighborhood has seen major redevelopment and was named the hottest neighborhood in the country for flipping a home in 2013 by a national Redfin study. This recent redevelopment and the neighborhood’s relative affordability has brought droves of young professionals in their 20s and 30s.
Although Petworth is not traditionally known for having a large number of attractions or access to retail, but commercial growth is taking place slowly and surely. Popular attractions and restaurants are Domku Bar & Cafe, Crane & Turtle, Red Derby, Petworth Citizen.
The housing market in Petworth consists largely of row houses, and single-family homes in various conditions. It has opportunity for condo purchase as well as some potential for “fixer uppers” (although you’ll be in tough competition with developers).
